Greetings fellow reader
Why should you care about poetry? After all, there are many forms of art to suit one's taste. One could easily write an essay about this very question, but, as of yet, this is not a blog; regardless, poetry is not the beginning and end, nor should it be, for one's creative needs. You, of course, are not obligated to care about poetry—it's the job of the poet to make the reader care.

Short Autobiography
Mercurial, candid, sensitive are some of the labels of which I have gladly endured, but if there was one word to describe myself, it would be complicated. I dance, I fight, I sing (badly), I write: You get the picture.
Though not a brat as a child, I did, like a lot of American families, grow up within the military world, and yes, that would eventually lead me to join the marines, feeling obligated to step out from the shadows of my parents. It seems no matter what we do, our parents influence our actions. Ironically, my military career, of five years, lasted longer than any other job to date by a wide margin.

Later, college would, for the first time allow me to truly challenge myself; consequently, I pieced together my chaotic K12 education. As a teen, I went to four different high schools, one of which maintained academics above the standard of which I had been measured; sadly, it did not last. Despite my estrangement, I found a mentor in college, and later I would find many more mentors in books that I had previously thought beyond my comprehension.

In the years that followed, cognitive self-awareness would strike a blow from within, and for all the gains and setbacks, I was left with one crucial piece of advice: Keep writing. Never stop writing.

A novel has been in the works for quite some time.
An essay might write itself in the near future.
